Giffard Iron Mixologist Competition awards 1st Place to Justin Taylor

The Iron Mixologist 2011 competition showcased original cocktails from Vancouver's top mixologists.  Creating original recipes specifically for the event, Giffard Canada was pleased to award Justin Taylor of the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver, Yew Restaurant as the winner of the annual Iron Mixologist Challenge. The required Giffard product for each cocktail was Giffard Muroise Du Val Premium Liqueur.

 

Every 18 months, Giffard holds the Giffard West Cup competition. Giffard hosts top bartenders from around the world to Angers, France, to meet, compete and enjoy the Giffard family's hospitality. Justin Taylor was awarded a trip to France for his cocktail, 'The Devil's Advocate' to compete in the Giffard West Cup

 THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE

.5oz Giffard Mûroise Du Val De Loire

1.5oz Courvoisier VSOP Cognac

.5oz cl Barbieri Aperol

.5oz Fratelli Branca, Punt e Mes

.2oz La Fée Absinthe

3 dashes of Peychauds bitters

3 lemon peels

 

METHOD:

  • In a mixing glass squeeze 3 fresh lemon peels, pith removed, and place in the bottom of the glass

  • Add Peychauds Bitters, and remaining liquor, minus absinthe

  • Add ice and stir for 20 seconds

  • In a pre chilled cocktails glass coat the inside with Absinthe

  • Strain cocktail to glass and garnish with dark chocolate
